Instructions for proper medication usage.

Updated over 10 months ago

Properly administering your GLP-1 medication is crucial for achieving the best results and ensuring your safety. This guide will help you understand how to take your medication correctly.

General Guidelines

  1. Read the Instructions Carefully:

    • Always start by reading the instructions provided with your medication. If anything is unclear, refer to this guide or contact our support team for assistance.

  2. Dosage and Administration:

    • Your prescription will specify the dosage in units. It’s important to adhere strictly to this dosage.

Preparing Your Injection

  1. Gather Supplies:

    • Medication vial

    • Syringe and needle

    • Alcohol pads

    • Sharps disposal container

  2. Wash Your Hands:

    • Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water before handling the medication and injection supplies.

  3. Prepare the Injection Site:

    • Clean the injection site (usually your abdomen, thigh, or upper arm) with an alcohol pad. Let it dry completely.

  4. Prepare the Vial:

    • Remove any outer metal cap (if using for the first time)

    • Clean the top of the vial with an alcohol pad. Let it dry completely.

Drawing the Medication

  1. Calculate the Correct Dose:

    • Check your prescription to determine the correct dose in units. This will be labeled on the container the medication arrived in, and will be listed in your communication from our medical team.

  2. Using the Syringe:

    • Insert the needle into the vial: Push the needle through the rubber stopper of the vial.

    • Draw the medication: Turn the vial and syringe upside down. Pull back on the plunger to draw the prescribed amount of medication into the syringe (refer to your prescription).

    • Remove air bubbles: Tap the syringe to move any air bubbles to the top, then gently push the plunger to expel the air bubbles.

Administering the Injection

  1. Inject the Medication:

    • Pinch the skin at the injection site to create a firm surface.

    • Insert the needle at a 90-degree angle (or as instructed by your provider) into the pinched skin.

    • Slowly push the plunger to inject the medication.

    • Once the medication is injected, withdraw the needle and release the pinched skin.

  2. Dispose of Supplies Safely:

    • Place the used needle and syringe in a sharps disposal container. Do not reuse needles or syringes.

Post-Injection Care

  1. Store Your Medication Properly:

    • Keep your medication in the refrigerator unless instructed otherwise. Do not freeze. If you are traveling, use an insulated bag with an ice pack to keep the medication cool.

  2. Track Your Doses:

    • Keep a record of each dose, including the date and time of injection, to ensure you stay on schedule.

  3. Monitor for Side Effects:

    • Be aware of potential side effects such as nausea, diarrhea, or constipation. If you experience severe side effects, contact your healthcare provider immediately.

Important Tips

  • Avoid Skipping Doses: Maintain a consistent schedule for taking your medication.

  • Correct Measurements: Always measure your dose carefully to avoid under or over-dosing. The vial should provide enough medication for your prescribed period until your next refill.

  • Consult Your Provider: If you have any questions or concerns about your dosage or how to administer your medication, don’t hesitate to reach out to your healthcare provider or our support team.

By following these instructions carefully, you can ensure that you are taking your GLP-1 medication correctly and effectively. Proper administration is key to achieving the best possible results in your weight loss journey.
